Cornering class

Question: Was interested in getting this cornering class for myself (rider of 5 years) and a new rider. Would this be an appropriate course for both of us?

Coach’s answer: Yes, for us it has no matter at all what the skill set is. Our logic and experience is, that everyone needs us. Never too early- never too late. Headcoach Can Akkaya

Question: During sign up I did not realize this was a track course and I am not at the level of riding just yet. I do not own a set of track gear and am not able to purchase these items as I was recently laid off due to the Covbid-19 pandemic. I apologize for any inconvenience and I will keep your school in mind for when I am ready to commit to this level of the sport.

Coach’s answer: Your arguments show me, that you haven’t read neither the description of this class- nor watched the explaining trailer- nor that you’ve read or understood the requirements. A) This class is for EVERY rider level and has NOTHING to do with speed. Nothing! B) It’s not a “track course” just because we are on a track. We teach every street rider to corner on their pace. Cornering skills are survival skills! C) Our class requirements note that rider gear is fair enough. There is not a word of track gear. I would suggest to take a minute and read and to go into you. This here is not what you think at all. We had a freshly licensed riders in the class yesterday, and she made a quantum jump forward, and I am not talking in terms of speed! Headcoach Can Akkaya

Question: I have a CBR650F. I know your track is somewhat small so I’m wondering if it’d be better for me to rent a smaller bike for this course or if you think mine will suffice.

Coach’s answer: What is the difference of a big or small track in regard engine output?! This track is wider than any road lane you probably know. Most riders struggle with slow turns, so that’s a fix right there! Headcoach Can Akkaya

Question: I have a cruiser/touring bike and I wonder if the cornering school is sufficient for it.

Coach’s answer: Very much, because we’re ALL dealing with the same “problem” to solve… PHYSICS Headcoach Can Akkaya

Question: I do not own a set of track gear and I can’t afford to buy it just for the class.

Coach answer: Good news… you don’t need specific ‘track gear’. Regular street rider gear- textile OR leather, is fair enough. It just has to have all significant protectors in the right places. You’re good to go.

Question: I am a slow rider so I am a little nervous in regard the track and the other riders, especially worried to be in their way.

Coach’s answer: We’ll group riders levels after evaluation. There is also a short cut ‘faster riders’ can take to make a ‘safe for everyone’ pass. No reason to feel in the way or intimidated. This is designed to help everyone. This is YOUR time and YOUR pace you’ll be going with!  Headcoach Can Akkaya

Question: I am a pretty quick rider, and I wonder how you deal with different pace levels of a class before I sign up.

Coach’s answer: We’ll group riders levels after evaluation. There are A, B, C group and we monitor this closely and move riders around if necessary. There is a passage to shortcut if you run up on someone. Interesting is, that after a while- everyone has dialed in to it pretty well, so that each one can go their desired pace. Question: I heard that motorcycles have to be prepared for riding on a track. What are your requirements in this regard for the cornering school program?

Coach’s answer: Non. All Superbike-Coach programs we’re running on Little 99 Raceway have no requirements in regard motorcycle preparation. Headcoach Can Akkaya

Question: Is day 1 the lowest level? Can I just start with day 2?

Coach’s answer: No, day 1 is just the beginning of this program, so an essential. Just because ‘you believe to know’ what a movie is like- you don’t go in to the theater a quarter into the movie, right?!  Headcoach Can Akkaya

A: Neither. This is an elite, psychologically focused coaching program designed to break through the mental barriers—like fear, ego, and lack of confidence—that limit your performance. While we utilize the track environment for speed and safety, our focus is on your mental blueprints and self-awareness, not just lap times or mechanical racing techniques.

Track Days

An well-organized motorcycle riding event held at some of the most prestigious road racing tracks throughout the West Coast. SBC is spreading riders in 3 skill level groups that are scheduled in 7x 20 minutes track sessions.

Question: Which rider levels are OK to participate your track days?

Coach’s answer: Our track days are ‘beginner’ orientated. That does not mean ‘new rider’. You need to have at least some riding experience before entering track days. Our Cornering classes are the perfect introduction for this as well.

Question: I am a slow rider so I am a little nervous in regard the track and the other riders, especially worried to be in their way.

Coach’s answer: We’ll group riders levels after evaluation. Our control riders are trained and see if you or others are in the wrong group.

A: Not much. Simply tape or disconnect your tail light and tape or remove your mirrors. Other than a clean and safe bike that’s about it. Your motorcycle must be in excellent mechanical condition with absolutely no fluid leaks. Tires and brake pads must have plenty of life remaining. A technical inspection will be conducted before you are cleared to ride.

A: Any bike above 125cc is welcome. Any type of mini, paddock bike or on knobby tires are not.

A: A Dot or Snell rated helmet, one or two piece full zip together leather or Aerostitch/Equivalent textile style riding suit, leather riding gloves that fully covers the wrists and riding boots that fully cover the ankles. A back protector is highly recommended.

Yes. SBC rents the paddock the night before an event at no charge to the riders. Tents, trailers and motorhomes are welcome.

A: The mandatory riders meeting will detail the pertinent information, rules and flags for the day before entering the track. It starts at 8:15am and lasts about 30 minutes.

A: Yes. Superbike-Coach offers the Track Rookie class for track day beginners in C group, and the Track Academy in B and B+ groups. You can opt these programs as an add-on during booking.

A: Yes. We have Dean Lonskey Photography around and Catalyst, who can help with technical issues and tire service.

Wheelie Course

A: Besides new riders- any rider level is welcome. Some learn faster- some need longer. We figured that this has less something to do with the actual riding time.

A: Any motorcycle is welcome. However- logically- your chances on a 500lbs cruiser are exponentially smaller than on a Supermoto. Also here- it comes mostly down on the rider skill.

A: Yes, also for the wheelie course- riding gear is required. Your safety is top priority. This can be leather or textile (regular riding gear) that has all necessary protectors in the right places, head to toe. A full face helmet is required. Back protector recommended.

A: You can make your life easier if you change the sprocket ratio on your bike. One tooth less on the front, and one tooth more on the rear does a whole lot. This setup is still fair enough for freeway and track riding and improves acceleration, so it would be just for the course.

Track Drill 1on1 – 1on4

A: This is good for novice riders and up. We go from where you at.

A: Sport (ish) bike is considered to be best for this program, a cruiser or dirt bike is not.

A: This course is designed to get faster on the track- in the safest possible way. This is not where you learn to shift. There will be passing and a whole lot of other riders on the track.

A: Your bike will need to go through an obligatory tech inspection. The requirements (taping lights, cameras, etc) are depending on the track pday provider we’re going with that day. Nothing costly or spectacular, so don’t worry.

A: Besides the coaching fee- there will be also your own track fee. You also have to take care of the track fee of your coach, which is divided/shared with the headcount of your track drill group. Ticket prices depend on the track, and provider we’re going with that day.

Track Rookie & Track Academy

A: The rookie class is clearly for ‘track newbies’, not for new riders who just made their license at the DMV. We run this class during Superbike-Coach track days in C group.

The academy is good for intermediate riders and up, and we run this class during our track days in B+ group.

Bothe can be opted during booking as an add-on.

Body Pos, Supermoto 1on1 and classes

A: These programs are for intermediate riders and up. You ideally have done our cornering classes before.

A: Sport (ish) is ideal
