Mind over Machine, a book by Can Akkaya the psychology of riding motorcycles

“There’s motorcycle psyche lecture out there that’s designed to make y’all feel good, but that’s just like another ‘please like me’ thing. You actually do know why you like riding into the sunset, don’t ya?! What you actually need is a butt kick!” – Can Akkaya

Available for pre-orders soon: Mind Over Machine the Psychology of Riding Motorcycles

Superbike-Coach Corp is proud to announce the release of the ultimate guide to motorcycle mastery, Mind Over Machine, by renowned Headcoach Can Akkaya. This isn’t a book about what to do; it’s about why you fail to do it. Drawing on decades of professional racing and Can’s unparalleled coaching experience, he tackles the root cause of crashes and plateaus for street and track riders: the psychological game.

This is the unfiltered, professional-level training that addresses the single most critical component of performance and safety: your brain.

Understanding the mental side of riding or racing motorcycles

This insight is written by Can Akkaya, headcoach of the Superbike-Coach Corp in Sacramento, CA. It sheds a light into the mental side of riding motorcycles, no matter how old you are or what you’re riding. This is for any rider, from the total beginner to the high level racing professional. Mind Over Machine is your breakthrough, dissolving insidious psychological barriers.

This isn’t a manual. This is a psychological audit for every rider.

Whether you navigate city streets or carve mountain roads, the difference between a great ride and a disaster isn’t the machine. It’s the software running inside your helmet. This book plunges into the heart of your internal struggles—the crushing Self-Imposed Pressure that locks your muscles, the paralyzing “what if” scenarios that steal your focus, and the frustration of bad habits that feel impossible to break.

“…of course I’ve been there. How else would I even know?!”

This book is a culmination of Can Akkaya’s life’s work – a unique blend of street wisdom, professional racing grit, and decades of hands-on coaching insight, meticulously crafted for every rider seeking true mastery.

Psychology of Riding Motorcycles

Can Akkaya wrote this book based on his profound experience being a rider, a pro racer, and a headcoach who has worked with riders for multiple decades. He teaches partially the content of this book in Superbike-Coach riding programs, such as his renowned Cornering classes.

However, even with extensive time in the saddle and on the track with thousands of students, classes never gave Can the comprehensive platform to fully implement his observations on the mental game of motorcycling. This led him to the realization that a deeper dive into the psychological barrier was necessary. He decided to write this comprehensive lecture to provide lasting value for all rider categories, levels, and ages.
