Motorcycle track days at Thunderhill

…and guess what… we’re making it different. If you are looking for a ‘beginner oriented’ track day event, or if you have a touring bike and nobody else lets you on the track, or if you have a race bike, Superbike-Coach track days have something for everyone.

Superbike-Coach track day at Thunderhill RacewayThree groups for safe track riding and learning

  • Advanced and Intermediate track day riders (B+ group)
  • Intermediate track day riders on sport, track, or sport touring bikes (B group)
  • Novice track riders- or on cruiser bikes (C group)

Why our track days are different

We run the three ‘regular’ track day level groups: B+, B and C. While every group has the usual 7×20 minutes sessions on the track- we offer the Track Rookie class as an optional add-on for C group- and the Track Academy class as an add-on for B+ group.

We offer ‘weekend track days’, so you can do either way just Saturday, a Sunday, or get both with a bundle discount. In any way- overnight camping is included. Both, the track day and class add-ons are limited and early bookings are recommended, and we have early birds discounts going right now!

Over thousands of miles and over four decades of racing, riding, and teaching on track all over this planet, Coach Can has been seen all kinds of track day organizers: “Some were really OK, but most of them… geez, they aren’t even sticking to their own rules. That ain’t good for track newbies at all!”. Besides a team of professional track marshals and a fully-equipped emergency crew, our control riders are always there for you.

All bikes- less bike preparation- every rider & gear

We understand how painful it is to prepare a bike to meet someone’s track usage requirements, so the only thing we ask for is to tape off all lights/glass.  Same goes for our requirements in regard to gear. As long as you have street acceptable riding gear with all protectors in the right places you are good to go. And hey, if you need to add some gear for this event, then Superbike-Coach also helps with huge discounts by our sponsors.

So, non-competitive, but if this is your first time on a ‘big track’ or if you have little experience with this, then we have the right programs to get you prepared for track days in general. We encourage you to do the Cornering program before hitting the big track- or at least to add-on the Track Rookie class. This will make you safer, more confident and you’ll get a much bigger scoop out of our track days.

Frequently Asked Questions

An well-organized motorcycle riding event held at some of the most prestigious road racing tracks throughout the West Coast. SBC is spreading riders in 3 skill level groups that are scheduled in 7x 20 minutes track sessions.

Absolutely. While experienced riders are welcome, this track day is intentionally designed to be beginner-friendly and approachable. Riders are separated into groups according to experience and pace, creating a safer and more enjoyable environment for everyone. If you’ve never been on a race track before, you’ll find a supportive atmosphere, coaching opportunities, and plenty of guidance throughout the day. The goal is learning, confidence, and fun—not racing.

Every event includes a wide range of riders, from complete novices to highly experienced track enthusiasts. That’s why we divide riders into groups based on pace and experience.

Track days are not competitions. Nobody wins a trophy, and nobody cares about lap records. The goal is to improve your riding, build confidence, and enjoy a day focused entirely on motorcycles. You’ll quickly discover that most riders are supportive, approachable, and happy to help newcomers feel welcome.

We’ve intentionally kept the requirements simple. Your motorcycle should have good tires, properly functioning brakes, no fluid leaks, and be in safe operating condition. There is no complicated race-bike preparation, safety wiring, or expensive modifications required.

For riding gear, you’ll need a DOT-approved helmet, motorcycle jacket, gloves, riding pants, and over-the-ankle boots. Full race leathers are welcome but not required. If you’re unsure about your bike or gear, simply contact us before the event and we’ll help you determine if you’re ready.

Nearly every type of motorcycle is welcome, including sportbikes, cruisers, naked bikes, touring motorcycles, adventure bikes, and sport-tourers. You do not need a race bike, track bike, or heavily modified motorcycle. If your bike is mechanically sound and passes our technical inspection, chances are you’re good to go. Many riders are surprised to discover how much fun they can have on the very same motorcycle they ride every day. Mini bikes are not acceptable.

Yes. SBC rents the paddock the night before an event at no charge to the riders. Tents, trailers and motorhomes are welcome.

To help riders get even more out of their track day, we offer optional coaching programs designed to accelerate learning and build confidence.

The Rookie Class is ideal for first-time track riders or anyone who wants additional guidance throughout the day. You’ll learn track procedures, riding lines, safety protocols, and fundamental techniques in a structured environment that helps remove the intimidation factor often associated with a first track day.

The Track Academy is designed for riders who want a more in-depth coaching experience. Working closely with our instructors, you’ll receive personalized feedback and focused instruction on areas such as cornering, braking, body position, vision, throttle control, and overall riding technique. It’s one of the fastest ways to identify habits, improve consistency, and make meaningful progress.

Whether you’re attending your first track day or your fiftieth, these programs provide valuable coaching that can dramatically improve both your confidence and your riding skills.

We work hard to make your track day experience as convenient and enjoyable as possible. Depending on the venue and event, riders have access to a variety of services and vendors, including tire service, suspension support, motorcycle repair assistance, photography, and food vendors.

Many riders choose to arrive the evening before and take advantage of overnight camping at the track, allowing them to avoid early-morning travel and enjoy a more relaxed start to the day. Camping is especially popular with riders traveling long distances and those attending multi-day events.

We recommend checking the specific event information for details on available vendors, camping availability, gate hours, paddock access, electrical hookups, and other venue-specific amenities. If you have any questions before your event, our team is always happy to help.

Pro Tip: Many riders turn our track days into a full weekend experience by arriving the night before, setting up camp, meeting fellow riders, and waking up just steps away from pit lane. It’s one of the best parts of the track day community.

The tracks we’re using

thunderhill-west-raceway-superbike-coachThunderhill West Raceway has 10 challenging turns on its 2 miles, and its short straights don’t give much relaxing time so that we go here in 3 level groups in 7×20 minutes sessions, also to keep the headcount low. This track is perfect for every rider level because of its characteristics.

little-99-raceway-superbike-coachLittle 99 Raceway comes with 13 turns on a mile, which makes it extremely challenging. If you can handle this one… you can handle every big track or canyon. The little 99 is a great place to get use to a track day environment. We run our track days here on 4 level groups in 12×12 minutes sessions, which is a lot.

thunderhill-east-superbike-coachThunderhill East Raceway is the more ‘expert’ level track because of its high speed sections and tricky lines. The braking travels are demanding on this 3 mile track with its 15 turns. We organize 3 level groups track days here with 7×20 minutes sessions. The secret of this track is the line, and who could show you this better than Coach?!

Laguna Seca Raceway is the the track that everyone has on their bucket list. MotoGP drains off its walls. We organize 3 level groups track days here with 7×20 minutes sessions. Not the easiest track, so get a pro coach to be safe and fast.
