Man… 2015 was kinda short, wasn’t it?!

December 16, 2015/4 Comments/in About Racing, About Superbike-Coach, Announcement, Controversy, Experience/by Can Akkaya

Only one more month to go and we welcome a new year. Lots of things around Superbike-Coach happened in 2015, and it seems that it will keep going like this also in 2016. But let’s reflect this riding season a little bit first, which kind of ended with a dramatic MotoGP World Champion title for Jorge Lorenzo- even with a little support.

If you maybe think I am a Rossi, Lorenzo or Marquez fan- you would be very wrong. When I am watching a race, then it’s about their performances, which is not restricted to one single racer. I herd Rossi fans saying that Lorenzo does not deserve the title, which is non-sense because Jorge’s performance in the qualifying are showing that he would have make it with or without Marquez. In other words… he really earned that title because he made less mistakes. In fact, Rossi couldn’t go the pace of the trio ahead, which was going slower as they could go- so I don’t see why all the pain and the hate right now. I feel bad for Vale because I believe that his goal is it to at least equalize Giacomo Agostini’s record of 14 world champion titles, so I hope he keeps going for it.

Let’s see what Superbike-Coach has accomplished in 2015- and still has to with one more Cornering School Day 2 on 12/6/ to go. You can fence our 2015 in with one sentence… all classes Superbike-Coach ran were booked out, and waiting lists were growing on almost each class… and all of it by word-of-mouth!

Let’s think about this for a second what that means… Superbike-Coach must be kinda good, doesn’t it?! A bed of roses- or a walk in the park?… by far not. I can tell you stories what I’ve been through- oh man. I just drop some words… I got threatened, deceived, betrayed, and copied… many times. But I never surrendered and my students are coming back because they know that Superbike-Coach is different- is first hand stuff which makes them being the better rider. Basta! :-)

Our 2016 schedule is filling quickly with all kinds of classes, also two new programs- ‘Motorcycle Preparation Workshop‘ and ‘Track Days’, which is a gigantic risk. Both only once per year for now, so make your plans for it. Superbike-Coach will be also in 2016 different, unique and efficient…. promise!

I wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance folks! See ya in 2016.

Reschedule of your Cornering Day 2 necessary due to rain and temperatures

December 3, 2015/0 Comments/in Announcement/by Can Akkaya

Unfortunately I have to reschedule your Cornering Day 2 which was planned for coming Sunday. The weather forecast is changing all the time (50% chance of rain), so I need to do this due to rain and low temperatures for safety reasons.

I was looking much forward to see everyone again, but hey… we’ll get there as usual. Don’t worry- you won’t lose spot/money. We’ll change the planned CSD-1 on 2/21/16 to a CSD-2, so this is your new date folks. If the date won’t work for you… go here to pick a other one. So please respond with a smooth ‘OK’- or a other date you’d prefer.

Anyway, the new date will make sense for many of you who are also doing my 1st track day on March 20th.

Book ’25 seconds’ comes as a eBook

November 30, 2015/0 Comments/in Announcement/by Can Akkaya

Believe it or not… I’ve started editing and translating the book for the English version, which will be also quite different as the original version in German. The reason is that the old version was more like a moment record, while the US version will be also more specific. My biggest decision is though, that I will publish it under the work title ’25 seconds’ as a eBook only. I actually don’t like it that much, but can you guys live with that?

It’ll be available on kindle, smart phones and tablet/pads.

We Organize Our 1st Track Day!

November 2, 2015/3 Comments/in About Superbike-Coach, Announcement/by Can Akkaya

Now it’s official- Superbike-Coach starts out organizing track days. I’m super excited about it because I was thinking about that for a long time already. Our students were asking about it anyway, because they herd real bad stories about other existing track organizers. We are going to be different in many ways… as I run my school programs different… so my track day will be!

So our first track day will be on March 20th 2016 at Thunderhill West Raceway, which is challenging and fun at the same time. But what I really want to do is, to offer this track day to anyone- not just students- or riders with a sport bike… no- to literally any motorcycle rider!

So no matter about gender, age, or level… no matter what bike you come up with… I’ll have a spot for you. See why we’re different?! We are- and beyond, but let’s see if some questions or points are matching your feelings about it:

  • …you always wanted to hit the track with your cruiser or Gold Wing just to have some fun?!
  • …you don’t want to make a huge technical deal, for taking your sport bike to the track?!
  • …you’re an experienced track rider but you never had the chance to go around a track with a MotoGP wild Card ex-pro?!
  • …you herd that some track organizers aren’t beginner friendly?!
  • …are you worried that this is ‘too much’ for you?!
  • …you don’t want to spend thousands of dollars to gear up, just to go to the track?!
  • …you don’t need high speed straightaways to be freaked out?!

Superbike-Coach will deliver all of this- for beginners, and for the very experienced ones.

I’ll be on the track as much as I can, and I will try to take advantage of each second I can show a rider how to do it better. I’ll also give a free seminar on the ‘Ideal Line West’ while lunch break, so that each one can go out again- and goes home with something new. The spots are already going, so don’t wait too long to safe yours:

I can’t wait to March now and to see lot’s of students again, as well as a bunch of new faces.

Finally A Fix Date For Cornering School Day 3

June 16, 2015/0 Comments/in Announcement/by Can Akkaya

I know many of you are waiting for a long time for this one… a new date for the rescheduled Cornering School Day 3. We got it finally done and I am just hoping that everyone of you can make this one:

August 9th 2015

If you haven’t sign up for this one and you’ve absolved CSD-2 already, then this is the link to do it quickly: https://www.superbike-coach.com/events/cornering-school-day-3

If you already booked/paid, but August 9th doesn’t work for you, then maybe our CSD-3 on September 20th would work better for you. If both CSD-3 dates don’t work for you… there will be a 2016 schedule in December coming out- or you simply request a refund.

However… I’m happy to finally have that thang off the table :-)

Highly highly recommend. 5 stars isn’t a high enough rating. Best decision I ever made. I was looking for a place that offered one on one classes cause I didn’t feel ready for a group class. The coach was super knowledgeable and very patient. He really took his time going over everything in detail and making you feel safe and comfortable. Gave me the confidence I needed to go into a group class. Had me riding in less then an hour. I highly recommend I will be signing up for more classes.

EDITED REVIEW: 7/17/26 After my first 1:1 with head coach Can Akkaya, I was motivated to take the cornering class day 1… what I got from that day has been life changing. I’ve signed up for the suspension workshop and cornering day 2, as someone who had basically given up on riding a motorcycle all together! These guys are LEGIT! As an absolute beginner, I got more than I ever expected and advanced riders in the class had the same experience. I cannot recommend this program enough for anyone and everyone at all levels to develop skills and knowledge Plus it was so fun, funny, and we came away feeling like we are a part of a family! 5 ++++ stars Original review: I would like to say thank you for helping me get over my fear of riding during our one on one class. As a coach / trainer myself, I appreciated your knowledgeable, no-nonsense and practical approach as well as subtle cues to guide me to safely and effectively operate a motorcycle. I got some of my confidence back and am looking forward to the cornering classes now and possibly a track day or two!

I had an amazing experience on day 1 of cornering school. Hearing coach Can's experience and credentials put insane faith into what he was saying and teaching me. After taking just a days worth of teaching into my daily riding I felt more stable and mentally finding a better line in my canyon runs and city streets. You have to understand though this isnt just a class to learn how be a faster rider. Its about how to be fast AND SAFE. We all love motorcycles and we want to keep doing it so practicing what coach teaches you is so so important. im already signed up for day 2 and 3 and im excited to go back. understand you may drop your bike so make sure its protected and so are you. wear your gear, ride smart, and be prepared.

I had an amazing time learning from Superbike-Coach and his team. It was challenging at times because you realized how much you’ve been doing wrong as a rider, but Coach is reallyvtryingvtobsetvyou up to win. Even with a full class, the team pays attention to what you need to work on to be the best rider you can be. As a woman who rides, I felt seen and honestly, his daughter Jill is an amazing rider to learn from. I’m taking all 3 classes and will continue to grow my skills through his courses. 10/10 recommend.

OK. Turning Class Day 1 was fantastic - I hate using that word but that’s THE best way to describe it. I am not exaggerating. We took the class as a family. My wife, a TOTALLY frightened noob with who worked with Can the weekend before and felt she wanted to go for it because he was such a good teacher (I guess unlike her husband, LOL). For me, 40+ years of riding and being a “good rider” and finding REALLY being a good rider are two different things. Can Akkaya (the instructor/ coach) watched me ride at Little 99 in Sacramento and after the first round was able to offer training and suggestions that instantly made my riding smoother and more efficient. I really enjoyed class in between track session as he and his team covered some pretty serious, potentially life saving, techniques and skills that the students were immediately able to apply and practice in real time on the track. He made it fun, we laughed, frequently at ourselves, but he impressed upon all the students the significance of how and why the riding techniques are used. This is not the State motorcycle safety course my wife just went through - which I feel is NOT worth it as I lost my mind watching her take it. But that’s is just MY opinion. Yet, this is what you NEED if you want to be a successful rider. What ever rider type you choose to be. Can knows his stuff. Seriously. Of that there is no doubt. He doesn’t mince words. He lets you know honestly, and with a true sense of caring and frequently with a bit of humor mixed in, what you need to do to be successful as a rider. I have a goal. I want to do track days and ultimately to race and be competitive at whatever level I am at that moment. I want to get better at every chance I am able. He is providing those tools. If you want to get better, this is THE guy. Seriously you should do it, it may save your life. My wife enjoyed the experience so much she signed us up for more classes so I guess we’ll see you at Turning Classes 2 and 3 or at the Suspension Class.

Original post from 8/2025 and updated 9/9/2025, then 7/15/2026 at the end: What an experience! My son and I have been riding for a bit over a year commuting every day. I have done a track day with some instruction at Thunderhill West with a reputable provider. I’ve watched maybe a hundred hours of motorcycle YouTube (the good stuff, not the influencers) and read Keith Code and Lee Park’s books. That may sound reasonable and all, but we learned more about how to ride a motorcycle in the first two hours of class than all of the above put together. Literally, not figuratively. This class and Coach are what I was searching for. Dozens upon dozens of laps on a tight technical track with multiple coaches circulating amongst the riders, following you as an individual rider through multiple corners, then leading you through entire laps. Not just one offs, but ALL DAY. The coach to participant ratio is bananas. Coaches that learn your name, care about you, and give you actionable feedback. They create an intimate environment that encourages organic community building, sets the tone for no ego/no posturing, simultaneously hilarious and deadly serious about the subject matter. Passionate about instruction? An understatement. A few times in my life I have been lucky to know people that are elite at doing and elite at teaching. Elite at anything is an achievement but at both? That’s Coach. 9/9/2025 update: I have now taken five classes with Coach and can't recommend him and his team highly enough. If you are on the fence, get off and sign up now. The support you'll get from Coach, his team and your classmates will put you at ease, and if you fully engage and put your trust in them, you quickly won't recognize yourself as a rider. After completing Cornering School Days 1, 2 and 3, along with the Suspension Workshop, my son and were chatting with each other saying "can you imagine riding a motorcycle and NOT having taken these classes?" I know it makes me sound like a crazy person, but it feels literally criminally unsafe to imagine folks out there riding without the skills you'll learn from Coach. True no matter what kind of motorcycle you ride, but especially true if you ride any kind of performance motorcycle. It's like being unplugged from the Matrix. Eye opening does not begin to describe the experience. I thought in taking these classes, I would learn how to be more confident through corners on the street and track, and while that's exactly what I have gotten, I wasn't prepared for how cool (and radical) the skills are that add up to that kind of confidence. Everything I had hoped I would get out of the classes, I did, and yet they have helped me realize just how tall the mountain is, how far below base camp I truly am, and yet have shown me the path to climb to my max potential. I mentioned I took five classes, but only listed four different classes above, and that's not a typo. The fifth class I took is a repeat of Cornering School Day 1. In fact I plan to repeat all three days of Cornering School, and likely _more than once_. I met classmates who have been through all three days multiple times. Why would anyone do that? In short: these classes are THAT packed with information and experiential learning. It's not just the reps on track, these classes are that effective. The physical and psychological environment are that effective. Feeling your knowledge, skill set, confidence and as a result your pace on the track increase is that effective. Coach and his team are insanely motivating and they truly and deeply care about what they are doing and about their students. The man wears his heart on his sleeve, and pours his entire heart and soul into what he is doing. So again, stop what you are doing and sign up for Cornering School Day 1 now. You quite literally won't recognize yourself on a motorcycle after. 7/15/2026 update: Repeated classes (cornering, knee down, etc) so many times I’ve lost count. Completed rookie track day, and a 1 on 1 with Coach and Jill at Little 99. Lifetime of learning possible with Coach!

Took their Cornering Day 1 as a new rider with about 2 months of experience. I had an inflated ego, so I pushed too hard before even learning about the lines and cornering strategies, and I ended up lowsiding on my first session. It was embarrassing, but the team handled the crash aftermath perfectly for me by fixing the dangling headlight and a bent shifter lever on my bike. I was able to continue with the rest of the day thanks to them. Thank you Mark! I learned not only about cornering, but also how fast the coach really is, gear selection, emergency braking, and mentally recovering after a crash. Just like what other people said, it was a very humbling experience. Will be coming back for Day 1 repeat and Day 2. Highly recommended.
